thank you for an awesome year -- happy summer, copeland cougars!
The last moments of the 14-15 school year are upon us -- I hope your family enjoyed every special learning day. To the entire Copeland community, thank you for showing me every day why this is a special place to work and learn.
· Thank you CHILDREN for asking deep questions and making me smile every single day.
· Thank you CFA – especially Mrs. Mazzei and the Executive Board and all the amazing committee work – for all the time, energy, and money you spent to enhance the students’ learning experiences.
· Thank you to an amazing educational team that is tireless in their efforts to bring learning to life and treat students with special care.
· Best wishes to our fifth graders – enjoy your Highland days, learning and discovering what lies ahead.
Have a fun and safe summer. Don’t forget to read and share your ideas in creative ways. See you in August for the 15-16 school year!

field day
Field Day was on the most beautiful day of the year so far! We spent last Thursday, May 28th, together playing games as classrooms, enjoying a hot dog lunch, then being entertained by Matt Wilhelm, a BMX Champion. CFA provided volunteers, lunch and funding for the afternoon assembly -- all which the students and teachers appreciated greatly. THANK YOU to Mrs. Close and to everyone who made Field Day such a great day.
fifth grade picnic
On Friday, May 29th, the fifth graders enjoyed celebrating a great year together by walking to Riverside Park for games, food, and fun. Thank you, parents, for your organization and providing our students with a great day -- they will remember the ice bucket game for a long time to come!
roll up day
On Friday, May 29th, students spent the last hour of the day with teachers from the next grade level up -- they "rolled up" a grade to hear about the highlights and fun facts that provided students with a glimpse into what to expect in the fall.
third grade portfolio breakfast and economy fair
Families of third grade students were invited into the classrooms to celebrate the hard work throughout the year! Third grade students also held an economy fair as a culminating activity from a Mini Grant funded by District 70 Business Partners. Well done third graders!
kindergarten celebration
"Oh, the Places You'll Go!" Kindergarten celebrated an excellent year of learning and fun on Tuesday, June 2nd. Thank you, Mrs. Grote, Miss Weaver, and Mrs. Griffin for preparing the students -- the songs get us every time!
Awards assembly!
This morning, we recognized many students for the choices they made, groups they joined, goals they achieved, character they showed, and sports and instruments they played. We are a very active school community! We also shared our best wishes to the 5th grade students as they move over to Highland Middle School. Special surprises included the Excellent in Character Awards given to Liam and Kendyl, the 4th grade flash mob celebrating the number of books checked out in our library this year ("It's All about the Books"), and the unveiling of our new Cougie mascot. Thanks for a great year, Copeland Cougars!
