variety show
Many thanks to all the wonderful performers for sharing their talents with a grateful audience on Thursday evening, October 5th. Students sang, played the piano, cello, ukulele, sang, danced, juggled, and entertained everyone. We celebrate each of you and THANK YOU for all the hard work and bravery you demonstrated.
Thanks also to Mrs. Edelsberg and Mrs. Schroetter for your leadership and guidance. These two teachers put together a wonderful show and brought our stage to life. Mr. Vipond also deserves many thanks for working hours and hours to get new stage lights up and running. We had a full gym with parents, teachers (thank you, Mrs. Boyle and Jermakowicz for manning the spot lights borrowed from HMS).

Dear Copeland Families,
We are excited the announce that we will be partnering with Original Works again for a Fall fundraiser!
Through the Original Works program, students will create an original artwork that you then can have reproduced onto a variety of high quality products. The products range from magnets, mugs, t-shirts and nearly two dozen other products.
Each child is eligible to participate in this wonderful program. Once the artwork is created, parents and children will have the opportunity to select which product or products they would like to feature their artwork. The program is designed to encourage creativity and student self-esteem. The resulting products make unique gifts that are practical for any season or occasion.
Complete details on the program will be sent home shortly. For more information on Original Works please visit their website atwww.originalworks.com

Students are jumping into the Illinois book award list. Students are working with these award nominated books to demonstrate the Common Core literature standards. Parts of a book, sequencing and story elements are being explored in the lower grades. The upper grades are forming opinions and using text evidence to support those opinions. They are also using online resources to add to their knowledge.
Students are also working on getting into the “maker-mindset”! with Mrs. Johnson Kindergartners explored human coding, 1st graders created number partner creations, 2nd graders explored different genres through coding and making, 3rd graders explore objects in motion with the Inventioneers app, 4th grade created project that linked together their social students and reading curriculum and 5th graders are exploring WeVideo to learn how to create and edit videos with the green screen.
