copeland is changing
In order to accommodate an increase in student enrollment, District 70 is beginning plans to reconfigure and add on to our learning spaces. We are working on short-term and more permanent solutions. Plans for construction will be shared with families as soon as they are approved by the Board of Education. A Building Construction Committee will consist of D70 administrators, outside architects, Copeland staff members and parents from the CFA Executive Board.
New Families: Please register ASAP so that we can effectively plan for instructional needs.
Returning Families: Registration will soon be available online.

PARENT INPUT FORMS
If parents would like to share information relative to their child's academic or social/emotional needs above and beyond that which this year's classroom teacher already knows that would be helpful as we create class lists for the 15-16 school year, please complete a Parent Input Form. Forms are available in the school office. Teacher requests should not be submitted and will not be accepted as we cannot grant specific requests consistently. Parent Input Forms are due back to the school office by Friday, April 17th.
d70 app
Have you downloaded the new D70 App yet? When you do, you will have direct access to the district and school calendars, the hot lunch menu, and much more. Dates will no longer be included in Paw Prints, as you can now find them easily on our website as well as the app.

A note from our speech language pathologists
International Noise Awareness Day is coming soon..........April 29th.
We would like to remind everyone of the dangers of extremely loud noise. Permanent hearing loss can be caused by extremely loud noise. A firecracker exploding close to the head or constant loud sounds, such as regularly listening to loud music on headsets or at concerts are examples. Exposure to loud noises may also occur while mowing the lawn, hunting or boating and busy traffic in the city. Even some noisy toys- toy cars with sirens, background noise on video and computer games etc. can cause hearing loss when close to the ear.
Noise can’t be avoided, but limiting exposure and wearing hearing protectors when exposed to loud noise are precautions that can be taken.
Continued exposure to noise above 85 decibels over time will cause hearing loss. Here is a quick link to information about common sounds and decibel levels:

Everyone is encouraged to observe a minute of silence from 2:15 to 2:16 P.M. on April 29, 2015 in observance of International Noise Awareness Day. Give it a try!
